What are some rock songs with electric violin?

I play the electric violin, and my rock band (which has electric guitars, drummers, singers) is trying to decide on a couple songs to perform. I'm looking for a good rock song that also includes an electric violin part. I might also consider a rock song that has a challenging part that can be played on the violin (but in that case, preferably with sheet music). Basically, any songs with violin in them would be fine.

Jean Luc Ponty – He will be your new idol. He did a lot of work with Frank Zappa.

There’s a band called Kiss Kiss that has some fantastic songs with electric violin. One of their best is a song called Satellite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9tQNYM_ZPw

Kansas …. but I wish, I was the one to get to say Jean Luc Ponte.

another classic rock less known. More Cello though. New York Rock and Roll Ensemble.

Alejandro Escoveto, uses a cello and violin player.

Hmmm… I know that she’s not entirely rock, but you might want to check out Emilie Autumn.

Here’s her official site.

She’s amazing at the violin, very talented. Even if you can’t play her songs… well, she’s inspired me to practice violin more often.

And good luck in any performances! I wish I had a band to play in…

I believe I Am Ghost’s ex-violinist played an electric violin. I’m not positive though. Never really paid attention to her violin at concerts…
Some songs I like by them are Lovers’ Requiem, Lady Madeline in Her Coffin, and The Denouement.

Also, Yann Tiersen and A Whisper in the Noise have some amazing songs featuring violins.

When it comes to rock and violin, one band automatically comes to mind that band is Yellowcard. One good example of their violin use is “Ocean Avenue”.
